Everything's too difficult for me to face

But then again how do I choose my race

I was born black - that was my curse

Even when I went forward, I've been in reverse

Just this morning I went to this store

And paid with a twenty dollar bill like before

But this time I was arrested for a counterfeit

I had no clue how I ended up with it

Even though I didn't resist I still hit the ground

Like my other brothers have already found

Then the officers decided they'd take a knee

On my legs back and neck very casually

Couldn't breathe Momma so I was trying to reach you

Hoped only with your love I'd see this through

But now I think I'm ready to see you again

At least I wouldn't have to go through pain

This world is still not ready for my skin color

As I'm judged with it by the law as the other

But I'm at peace now and I'm ready to go

As I’m getting ready to embrace today

I won’t have to then face joy or sorrow

Like the birds fly back at the end of the season
Time for me to go you’ll understand the reason
I’ve been here for quite a few number of years

There’s no room for error when it comes to norms
But I’ve decided now not to get involved in forms
And free the mind enough to let in consciousness
Where there’s no pain and not so much distress

With a quink of an eye the childhood disappeared
Now I refuse to be entrapped in time that’s feared
The time is limited for me to finish what I started
Yet I stay with the moment before it’s fully parted
So let me fly from here back to the land of Now
Where I won’t have to fear my past, future somehow
I will stay where my awareness stays with me
And meet every thought one at a time distinctly

I say it’s the pure awareness of all the tasks
The more the mind is left out of the equation
The less there’ll be conflicts with a better solution
I’m at peace now and that is where I’ll be

I ‘ll stay focused with ease and conviction

Where are you going - have you decided yet
Then get your directions - better not forget
You may choose a path that’s easy or the one that’s hard
But never forget under every scenario always be on your guard

Days will go even faster as you get older
Not fighting time will make you much stronger
So let it be my friend don’t stress over anything
In the end we will meet with no hard feeling

Are you ready yet to get into good trouble
The stronger ones should protect the vulnerable
The road is long and hard and there is no guarantee
Of ever crossing the finish line and sustain harmony

Years will come and go yet there’s this timelessness

Tasty Fruits of Democracy

Wait a minute aren’t you the one who started a war
And hence unleashed killings of many near and far
You’re still evading justice like nothing ever happened
But our willingness to seek it can never be dampened

Have you forgotten there wasn’t any WMD
Still you started shock and awe illegally
After hundreds of thousands of lives were lost
And fake intelligence reports were toast
Did the world come to know what actually occurred
About waterboarding and to people who were tortured

People over there always get what they deserve
While people elsewhere lead without wanting to serve
They’re running towards excesses in greed and power
And think they’re untouchable in their big tower

Can you show us the tasty fruits of democracy
And give the freed people some dignity
As so many lives are in total disarray
And pain and heartache are here to stay
The damage that’s been done is irreversible
Let’s hope things gets better with a miracle

The Key

When will I reach my destination people ask
They also ask if they’ll be ever happy
I tell them their journey completes the task
Pointing to consciousness is the key

I just keep breathing to stay connected
To everything and everyone around me
As every moment is selected
I touch, smell, taste, feel and see

I say what’s wrong with the clouds above
I might not get exactly what I want in any return
But I’ll always be holding on to love

I’ve learned to wait without being burdened

I see my childhood in its endless series
I walk on the path that my destiny creates
And hold on to anything the present appreciates

To many it seems like there is no way out

To many now absolutely there's no doubt

And address first to humans what causes pain

How they can from it thread unity

No death will be in vain

It's true we have distanced ourselves from you

And wandered far from all that truly matters

Instead we let our impulse give the cue

Against systemic racism and deadly reactions

By the police and many other institutions

Every problem though has many solutions

Few bad apples is really not the issue

Instead focus on the tree and see how it grew

Change the laws of poliing now and forever

And save lives while we all come together

Where there’s no judgment fear and hatred cease

Up above the sky my heart wants to fly

Why then my freedom they’re out to deny

All I want to do is to go to a store

Not asking for any special status or favor

All I want is a little respect, little order

Coming from the people who are supposed to Maintain peace forever and keep order too

Instead I see colors determining status

Over being looked down on just because of skin color And also because of not caring ‘bout others’ culture Still am hopeful for a better and less violence

But still I’m not going to do everything in silence

I can't breathe

The man takes a break after breaking up a fight

He's then approached by the law that doesn't see him as equal

they find their criminal
All he does first is express his frustrations with the cops

As he's forced to fall down the chokehold becomes stronger
And all this happens in seconds but it seems much longer

That's the cry of a lonely man who at that time had no friend
It takes five to squeeze out a life for no reason at all
And this son, this husband, this father, this brother will never call

As he lay down without moving there wasn't a sense of urgency
To try and bring him back to life, give hm some dignity
He would have been just a statistic without the video
All this horror that goes on in cities across less people would know
But even when all the people saw what had happened that day
It's injustice that had the louder voice and ultimately more say
And now they're trying to silence voices of those who disagree
In a world that still refuses to see there is inequality

Don't worry too much about doing

My thoughts keep flying to so many different places

Where they try to outdo each other in the tough races

They take me to where there's fear and take me to where I'm lost

And get me to fight myself in many places at any cost

But I'm learning to just watch my thoughts and leave them as is

All my struggles will be replaced by an everlasting bliss

Just first be wherever you are, don't worry too much about doing

Then you'll see things taking shape without restlessness brewing

You'll reach your destination without much created drama

Just silent acceptance is what it takes to pull you out of trauma

There's nothing to add nothing to take away to and from your present

As everything that you truly need the Now has just now sent

Everything will turn out the way they're meant to when and where that happens

Just sit back, relax and keep observing how consciousness opens

I'm learning to go beyond my thoughts and set myself truly free

And everything that I looked at now I'll get to see

I've come back to Bangladesh

I keep coming back to the place of my birth
Even after living in many places on this earth
Don’t know exactly what keeps bringing me back here
All I know Is that here everyone to me is dear
Even though the house that I grew up in is gone
My memories surrounding it are still running strong
The smell of Hasna Henna pulls me a little closer
And even the crows’ cries make my life a little fuller

I’ve come back to Bangladesh the greenest place I know
Where mangoes and jackfruits are much more than fruits that grow
And Rickshaw pullers remind me there’s a joy
Even in conditions that one always wouldn’t enjoy

People keep asking me why I keep going to this place
Where there’s pollution and many bad things people face
But I just avoid them in every way I can
As I get ready to make my trip to the Bangla land
When I finally land there, it’s like seeing the place anew
I then find peace that was for long overdue
I feel welcomed by the air after I touched the Bangla soil
It’s easy to make sure that this trip no one else could spoil
